Mom

Well I want to tell you about the person who inspires me the most in my life...my Mom!

Well, my mother Debi Moretta is a very loving and caring person. She always thinks about others before herself and she will go out of her way to make sure you get where you need to go or get what you need. My mom and I have always been close. Every time she went somewhere I would want to tag along with her and we would always talk about things. I could tell her anything, as I can with my Dad also, but we had a great mother-daughter bond.

My mom has always been there for me. She was my Kindergarten room mom and I remember when she would come into the classroom to help, I would love it. When it became time for her to leave, I would always say "mom no don't leave!" and then I would go over to her and give her leg a hug because that's how tall I was because I was only five. I would just cry because I wouldn't want her to leave. I wanted her to stay for the whole class time and most of the time she would.

I was a brownie in a Girl Scout troop when I was in 1st and 2nd grade and she was always involved in what we were in and she made sure everything went smooth. When I was about 6, I played soccer and my brother John played hockey. My parents always made sure we got to our games and if they were on the same day, they would try their best to get us there. When I was in elementary school, as I said before, she was involved a lot. She was on the P.T.A. board and did the year book one year. I remember my mom, my dad, and one of her good friend's Diane, stayed up late almost every night working on the year book and it was one of the best year books that I remember from that school. My mom was one of the leaders for my brother's Boy Scout troop and I also remember when we had some of the meetings at our house. We had all of these boys over (I didn't like boys yet...hehehe) but my mom would let some of the brother's sisters come over too and hang out with me and we would try to do some of the crafts or whatever the boys were doing.

When my mom told me that she was going to go back to school, I remember I was crying. I don't exactly know why I was but I think it was just like "you're going back to school... Am I ever going to see you as much?" But it all worked out and she ended up getting her degrees and doing really well. She always did well on her tests also. My mother is a very smart person. I remember one time (I can't really remember how old I was) but my mom and I were both sick with a cold or something and I stayed home from school and we both went to Marie Calendars and had soup. My mom and I always did things like girls' day outs and stuff like that. When my dad and brother took a ride on their motorcycles, my mom and I would go to the movies and see a movie that we couldn't see with them because it was a "Chick flick" and they wouldn't ever want to see it. My mom and I always had fun. My mom's friends would always celebrate their birthdays and go out to lunch together and my mom would let me go with her. It wasn't too boring for me though because one of her friends had a daughter, so Valerie and I hung out a lot.

My mom has recently had a love for Bon Jovi's music. She went to a concert with my Aunt Sheila, Aunt Sandi, Tiffany and a few other people and had a blast. She wanted to go to another concert and she decided to take me with her since I got to know mostly all of their songs. So we went and got tickets like a month in advance and we got second row from the stage and we got to go even closer like up against the rail. When we went to get tickets, the workers wouldn't let me in because I wasn't in the Bon Jovi fan club or something. So I stood out in the rain waiting for them to get tickets but it all paid off when we got there! We had a blast. We rented a limo for the night, and one of may favorite guys in the band, David said hello to me. My mom was like say hi to David and I waved and was like "Hi David", and he said hello back!!! I was so happy it made my night. Also when we were there, a girl had thrown a teddy bear on stage and it missed the stage and landed next to the security guard and I said "mom can I ask him for that" and she was like ya. So I asked him and he was like you want that and I was like ya and he gave it to me. I guess standing in the rain wasn't a bad thing to do because we had a blast that night. That is something I will always remember. My first concert! I don't really remember but my mom and dad said one time when we were in Las Vegas at the Excalibur she saw a guy who looked like he could be Jon Bon Jovi. She said she was helping me walk down the stairs and then she turned around and he was smiling at me. If I ever got to meet Jon I would so tell him that story but I don't think he would remember seeing me since that was like in 1991 or so. When my brother John and I were in elementary school my mom would take us to AM PM to get ices after-school. It was cool. We had to have are ices.

My mom was always into doing crafts and rubber-stamping and things like that. One day she was thinking of something that would be easy to make so she could sell them at craft shows and things like that. She said one day out of dead sleep she just woke up and was like, "I could make plant pots". So my mom made plant pots and sold them at craft shows. A lot of her friends did crafts so they would buy out a table at a craft show and sell the stuff they made and it was always so cute! I remember my mom staying up late at night painting the pots and wrapping them up in cute things and putting bows around them and things like that. I think almost everyone in our family has something hand made by my mom. All of the crafts she made were cute.

When John was playing ice hockey there was not really that many sisters that would come to the practices so my parents and their friends and I on the Friday night practices would go across the parking lot and get pizza while they were at practice. The rink was always so cold so we would hang out over there and then we would go watch the rest of the practice. We had fun. I miss going to hockey and seeing all of our friends. We were close to some of them so I miss seeing them. When my brother was also playing ice hockey we went to Boston for a tournament. My mom has always been into history so it was really fun going back East and seeing some of the sites. We have always said we are going to go back and see more of the sites because we wanted to see some of them and we didn't get to because we were always going to hockey. When we were landing it looked like a little Christmas village because it was all snowy and there were a lot of brick buildings and all of that stuff. A couple of us made a snowman outside of the hotel. It wasn't the best but it worked because it was cute! We were in Boston for 8 days and it was a very cold 8 days. When we were on our way to the famous bar Cheers, we saw an outdoor ice rink so after we ate at Cheers, we went to the ice rink. I remember there was this older man skating and you could kind of tell he used to play hockey because of his skates. They were a very old pair of hockey skates. He was just watching John skate and was like Wowed by it. My brother could skate. John was like one of the fastest skaters out on that rink. It was so cool when we were skating though because it was like all cold and we were all bundled up and it was snowing and we were skating on an outdoor skating rink. It was like a fairytale almost or something you would see on TV. When we get through this terrible accident we will go back to our lives and hopefully get to do the things we have always wanted to do like going back to Boston.
