Debi wrote this about herself as part of a family tree she was working on
I was born in San Bernardino, California. Growing up, I was very involved in playing softball. I played catcher on the teams from the age of 8 until 18 years of age. I am a member of the Fontana Girls Softball Hall of Fame. I graduated from Fontana High School in 1978. Shortly after, I was employed at GTE as an Administrative Clerk where I worked for 13 years. After "retiring" from GTE, I became very involved in my children's lives and was a Vice President of the PTA at Lomitas elementary school for several years, and a Cub Scout leader for my son's troop for four years. I was awarded "Scout of the Year" in 1995. At the age of 37, I decided to go back to school and earn a degree. I completed a Paralegal Certificate program in December 2000, and will earn my Associate of Arts degree in December 2001. I didn't have any medical problems as a child, but as I've gotten older, I get the regular aches and pains like anyone else my age. I met my husband through a mutual friend at the age of eighteen and we started dating, and eventually got married to at the age of 26. To date, we have been married 15 ½ years.
